TL;DR

What has actually traded on the midterms so far?

More than $1.4 billion. CNN's analysis of the 2026 midterm prediction markets, published October 23, put combined volume above that figure with Election Day still ahead, citing company spokespeople for both platforms: Kalshi, the largest U.S. prediction-market company, had seen nearly $1.1 billion in midterm-related trading, and Polymarket more than $340 million across its U.S.-facing platform and its offshore site. Industry expert Dustin Gouker, who writes a newsletter on the prediction-market industry, told CNN the volume is "sizable" and that the prices are "a meaningful signal that provides probabilities that aggregate polls and public sentiment."

The flow is accelerating into the vote. Across Kalshi, Polymarket US, ForecastEx and Gemini, election trading reached $103.87 million in the first 20 days of October alone — up from about $41 million over the same period in September — with the Texas Senate race and the battle for control of the House generating nearly $49 million of the October total between them, according to DeFi Rate's market tracking. Gouker told CNN he expects trading to ramp up significantly on Election Day itself, as traders react while polls close across the country.

What are the markets pricing for Tuesday?

A Democratic House, at roughly nine-in-ten odds. Aggregated market data reported by CoinGape on October 27 (data from Sikt Intelligence) put Kalshi at roughly 90% for a Democratic House and 64% for a Democratic Senate, with Polymarket pricing Democrats at 92% to flip the House. The positioning underneath those prices is heavy: Kalshi alone has logged 73.4 million contracts on the House race, and Polymarket shows $23.8 million in notional volume on the same market. This is the first midterm cycle in which the market read is a standing input to the news cycle — CNN has already called the 2026 midterms "the first prediction-market election."

That does not make the price a fact. Most people who trade on prediction markets lose money, as CNN noted, and the same CoinGape reporting records the counterweight: Utah is among 11 states pursuing legal action against Kalshi over alleged illegal gambling, even as access broadens — Phantom Wallet has integrated Kalshi-powered markets for U.S. users, and the NBA has signed a memorandum with the CFTC naming Kalshi and Polymarket as preferred exchanges. The odds are a price, not a prophecy. Our call below treats them as the best single number available — and grades itself either way.

Why is crypto on both sides of this election?

Because crypto built the venue and is financing the candidates. Polymarket settles in crypto on crypto rails; Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated exchange whose election contracts survived a federal court fight. Simultaneously, the industry is the cycle's biggest corporate spender: Reuters reported on October 27 that crypto groups have spent $176 million on the 2026 midterms, with Fairshake and its affiliated PACs accounting for about $150.8 million of that through October 20, per campaign-finance filings, and other crypto groups about $25 million. Public Citizen's assessment, cited by Reuters, is that crypto was the single-biggest corporate spender in federal races in 2026.

Fairshake — backed by Coinbase, Ripple Labs and Andreessen Horowitz — announced it is supporting 32 House incumbents, 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats, with an initial $6 million spread across six races at $1 million each, and an expected total above $100 million including at least $30 million in Ohio's Senate race. "We back pro-crypto candidates who support American innovation in both parties," Fairshake spokesperson Geoff Vetter said. All 32 endorsed candidates voted to advance the industry's signature bill. Colin McLaren of the Solana Policy Institute, which has given $4.9 million this cycle, described the strategy to Reuters plainly: "It's an investment in the future."

What does Tuesday decide for crypto law?

Quite possibly another two years of waiting. The bill all 32 Fairshake candidates backed — the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which would split oversight of digital assets between the SEC and the CFTC and require exchanges to register federally — passed the House on July 17, 2025 by 294 votes to 134, then stalled in the Senate: the motion to open debate failed on September 15, 2026, 49–50, eleven votes short of the 60 required, and no new vote was scheduled as of October 22. The bill expires when the 119th Congress ends on January 3, 2027; a new attempt starts from scratch. In the gap, regulators are writing their own rules — the CFTC's crypto-rules comment period stays open until December 14, 2026 — but agency rules, as PYMNTS' analysis notes, are more vulnerable to reversal than a statute. Whoever holds the House and Senate gavels in January writes the next version of the bill. That is what Tuesday prices.

What is The White Report's call?

Democrats win control of the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 — the outcome both major prediction markets price at roughly 90%, backed by $1.4 billion of traded volume rather than a polling average. Secondary line, stated now so it can be graded later: the markets' House call will be settled and known before the television networks project the chamber. If the House goes the other way, the call loses, the $1.4 billion was wrong in public, and we will print both facts on the Scoreboard.
